Adventure Engagement Session at Max Patch
Meet the Couple of this Max Patch Engagement Session
When Sam first contacted me about her engagement session she had never even heard of Max Patch. Her and Donnie are newly engaged from Pennsylvania, and were coming down to the Smoky Mountains for a family vacation and thought they would take their engagement photos while here! Sam new she wanted a mountain backdrop, and after throwing around a few ideas of locations within the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, her and Donnie decided to make the trip out to Max Patch, North Carolina with me to experience the most epic mountain views the area has to offer. I've been to Max Patch quite a few times but the views there are so breathtaking it literally never gets old, and I knew that Sam and Donnie would be so glad they decided to drive the extra 1.5 hours to get to this amazing location.
Why I love Max Patch Engagement Sessions
Although I've been to Max Patch for engagement sessions, elopements, and senior sessions, it's still one of my favorite locations in the area to shoot at. So often when people come to the area and want photos taken, they say they want the best mountain views in the Smokies as the backdrop to their photos, however I always let them know that if mountain views is what they're after, my favorite mountain views around can actually be found right across the border in North Carolina. If they're up for a little bit of a drive, and a .25 mile hike, it will be so worth it for those 360 degree mountain views.
Max Patch is also an amazing location for elopements! Check out this elopement I photographed there last December below!
A few more details from this Max Patch Engagement Session
One of my favorite things to do during engagement sessions is encouraging couples to bring an extra outfit to change into. I tell couples usually to wear one casual outfit and bring along a dressier outfit. I love doing this because some of my favorite prompts and poses to do include a lot of movement, which can sometimes be difficult to do in sometimes constricting, more formal outfits. I also think it super important for the couples' authentic style to be represented in their engagement photos, because although most couples think they need to dress up for their photos, their true personalities are shown when their wearing their everyday clothes, like their favorite band tees for example, or, like with Sam and Donnie, blue jeans, white shirt and western hats! You can totally still have the best of both worlds though and bring a dressier option to wear as well, since it's not every day you get to get all fancy and get photos of it!
Some kind words from the couple of this Max Patch Engagement Session
After I sent Sam and Donnie a few sneak peaks of their engagement session, Sam left me this super sweet review on the Knot. Reading reviews like these really make this job so worth while and the fact that I can even call getting to capture moments like these my job is surreal and so special to me. I really treasure reviews like these so much and there's nothing I love more than hearing from people whose stories I've gotten to tell through my camera like this.
"Tori was amazing for our engagement photos! We were in love just from seeing the sneak peaks! She was so easy to connect with and recommended a perfect location. She made us feel like nobody else was around when we were in a crowded area. Thank you for making us feel so comfortable, capturing the perfect moments, and making us fall in love all over again!"
