Annleah and Robert’s mid-October wedding at The Quarry in Knoxville was a beautiful representation of a wedding that felt deeply connected to its surroundings. Set within the stone walls of an old rock quarry, their day unfolded with an intentional softness that allowed the venue’s most striking feature- the canyon- to take center stage. The Quarry has long been one of my favorite venues to photograph, and for good reason. The dramatic scale of the canyon paired with the natural textures of the stone creates a setting that feels both expansive and intimate. Annleah and Robert leaned into this effortlessly, choosing a design approach that complemented the environment rather than competing with it. The aesthetic of the day was organic, neutral, and romantic. Soft, natural tones were layered with hints of deep green to echo the surrounding foliage, creating a palette that felt grounded and timeless. Thoughtful details- including organic elements like stones sourced from the quarry itself - added a meaningful connection to the space. Candlelight was woven throughout the design, bringing warmth and softness to the raw textures of the venue. As the day transitioned into evening, a candlelit reception created an ambiance that felt warm, intimate, and full of feeling, before transitioning into what Annleah & Rob wanted to be remembered as “the party of the year”- and I believe they delivered on their promise. Every element, from the natural design choices to the intentional pacing of the day, reflected Annleah and Robert’s vision perfectly.
Instead of a traditional first look, Annleah and Robert chose a first touch: a quiet, intentional moment that allowed them to connect without seeing one another. It was understated and emotional, setting the tone for a day rooted in presence and meaning. Throughout the day, I utilized film photography alongside digital imagery, adding depth, texture, and a sense of nostalgia that beautifully complemented the overall feeling of the day. Their wedding was a reminder of how powerful it can be when design, setting, and emotion work together- allowing a space as iconic as The Quarry to shine, while still feeling deeply personal and true.
